Derivative Systems Director

Job Description
The systems director will have the responsibility for supporting all existing and new applications and projects that enable the derivative business functions within Investment division. This hands-on position is located in Boston and offers the opportunity to liaise with front-office, risk-management, middle-office and back-office global clients, onshore and offshore development teams and vendors. The successful candidate will collaborate with each of these groups to provide technical solutions and requires a solid background in technology, specifically related to systems that support derivative straight-through-processing, accounting and risk management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting and providing solutions in a global trading environment with geographically distributed teams. Further, a strong business focus, familiarity with business processes within front, middle and back offices and terminology, a desire to partner with a diverse client-base and excellent communication skills are also required.



Responsibilities will include

* Develop and implement a long-term technology strategy to support business needs.

* Keep abreast of new market developments in derivatives.


Qualifications:

* BS in Computer science or related field; a Masters degree is preferable

* 8+ years of management or team lead experience

* Knowledge and experience with derivatives (fixed income, commodity, currency, equity)

* Experience with Java, .NET, databases, Matlab, C is desirable

* Experience working with Bloomberg, Reuters and other market data providers

* Systems knowledge in Summit, Findur/Endur, Murex, Calypso and other similar applications in a front to back office environment

* In-depth understanding of strategic business objectives combined with broad industry knowledge of investment products, market practices and securities operations.

Market Data Manager

The IT Security and Market Data team is responsible for overseeing the security of company data by supporting security applications and market data infrastructure. Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure Security and Market Data, this position is part of the IT Infrastructure group. Client is currently seeking a bright Support Analyst to serve as a liaison between our business users and the IT Application Development Team. The person filling this role will work directly with traders, fund managers and research personnel to understand current and future production application requirements. The individual will use technical and analytical expertise to identify and resolve problems support our suite of applications. Additionally, the role will involve change management functions including release testing and software configuration and deployment.

Principal Role and Responsibilities:

This is a multi-function job role that requires time to be split between production support and systems analysis.

1.) Production Support:
• Provide support for our various trading, fund management, and investment decision applications.
• Monitor applications for production issues. Help troubleshoot any production issues that arise.

Required Competencies:
• Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or equivalent.

• Knowledge of UNIX and/or Linux preferred
• Prior experience in the financial industry with high exposure to fund management and trading applications.

Overview:

The Windows Applications Developer will participate in a development capacity on an existing rewrite project of a client relationship application, with future application development work on other projects. The project team currently consists of three developers. The candidate should be familiar with the Microsoft technology stack in general, and .NET in particular (see requirements below).

• Propose and design technical solutions
• Create new system components
• Enhance existing components
• Provide remediation for existing system issues
