Desktop Support Analyst - Boston, MA

Contract to permanent role at a well respected investment firm in Boston.

Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware and basic network connectivity problems and provide resolution to end users in a timely manner to ensure that the systems run smoothly.
  • Respond to user queries in person and over the phone.
  • Manage all aspects of desktop environment including the antivirus system, system roll out processes, desktop application maintenance, patching, licenses etc.
  • Evaluate software and hardware and make recommendations regarding purchases. Install new software and hardware and ensure staff members are properly trained.
  • Manage issue tracking system (trouble ticket system); advise and educate users in the effective use of the issue tracking system.
  • Document procedures, standards, best practices configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions; ensure documents are kept up to date.
  • Support projects to improve the IT infrastructure or meet business needs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and either MCSE or A+ certification required, with MCSE preferred.
  • 2-4 years of desktop support experience closely related with an Active Directory environment.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks is a must.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. 
  • Capability to multi-task to manage his/her time and projects.
