Contract SQL DBA - Boston, MA

Our financial client in Boston is looking for a long term SQL DBA contractor to work within their team.

In person interviews required in Boston.

Required Skills:

·         Experience supporting (monitoring, maintaining, designing, implementing) our SQL Server environments (Production, QA, Test) – Basic DBA responsibilities

·         Ensuring Backup/restore integrity and abilities

·         Designing/maintaining new and existing database solutions/objects (databases, stored procedures, etc.)

·         Design, architecture and implementation of the physical and logical database from a hardware (server, SAN, storage etc.) and software (table/file partitioning etc.)  perspective

·         Maintaining connections and links to our Oracle environments (linked servers)

·         Ability to optimize and provide SQL (TSQL required, PLSQL a strong plus) language support for internal clients (e.g. Quantitative Group)

·         The candidate MUST be ready to support our environment 24/7 if the needs arise, and must be reachable at all hours through the length of this contract.

·         SSIS Package design, development and maintenance on all versions of SQL Server 2005 and above

·         Ability to work in a close team environment as part of the group, but also the ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.

·         Positive attitude, looking to communicate and transfer knowledge of database best practices.

·         Financial Services Experience.  Understanding of financial markets, financial oriented data, and the ability to communicate with financial professionals is strongly desired.

Desktop Support Analyst - Boston, MA

Contract to permanent role at a well respected investment firm in Boston.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot software, hardware and basic network connectivity problems and provide resolution to end users in a timely manner to ensure that the systems run smoothly.
• Respond to user queries in person and over the phone.
• Manage all aspects of desktop environment including the antivirus system, system roll out processes, desktop application maintenance, patching, licenses etc.
• Evaluate software and hardware and make recommendations regarding purchases. Install new software and hardware and ensure staff members are properly trained.
• Manage issue tracking system (trouble ticket system); advise and educate users in the effective use of the issue tracking system.
• Document procedures, standards, best practices configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions; ensure documents are kept up to date.
• Support projects to improve the IT infrastructure or meet business needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and either MCSE or A+ certification required, with MCSE preferred.
• 2-4 years of desktop support experience closely related with an Active Directory environment.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks is a must.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. 
• Capability to multi-task to manage his/her time and projects.

.NET Developer Contract - Boston, MA

Contract position in Boston working with WCF and WPF developing financial applications.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with business users, analysts, managers and traders to identify areas where technology could be enhanced to improve the investment process and achieve superior results
• Propose and develop technical solutions
• Work closely with users to test these solutions and successfully integrate them into the environment
• Support and maintain the applications developed

Qualifications:

• College degree required
• 5+ years of middle-tier development specifically with C#
• 4-7 years of SQL database experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, and Reporting Services
• Proven ability to work within a small team as well as independently
• Excellent written and oral skills
