Systems Engineer

Client: $80 billion alternative investment management firm in Boston.

Position Summary:
The Systems Engineer will share responsibilities in a variety of technological areas centered on configuration and administration of clustered Windows 2003 based servers as well as EMC NAS storage devices and their associated application components. Additionally this position will be actively involved in installation, configuration and administration of Microsoft SQL Server, including assisting in the migration of several SQL Server 2000 installations to 2005. The role also includes configuring and managing Active Directory user/group rights and enforcing security policies. Administration of Red Hat Linux is desired but not required.

The Systems Engineer will provide technical support and guidance to end-users including hardware and software troubleshooting and will coordinate vendor and third-party maintenance for network connectivity, software support, and telecommunications services.
The position will be part of a team participating in 24/7 support schedules as necessary.

o Active Directory User/group administration, message server account setup, group policy configuration to manage/enforce security
o Contingency Planning Help implement, monitor and adjust the system backup procedures to ensure that the corporation's data and computer systems are recoverable. Involves maintaining and testing business continuance strategies and procedures; recommend and implement security structures necessary to protect the corporation's system resources from misuse
o User Support Assist in providing technical assistance and support to users of the corporation's computing environment, including desktop/laptop, printer, blackberry and phone systems support

The IT Client Systems Team is responsible for the development and support of Corporate Business applications. This team consists of approximately 35 technology professionals whose key functions include application development, system integration, application support, and production support. Overview:
Reporting to the BA Group Manager, the Business Analyst will work within our Client Systems Development Group on projects related to performance measurement and reporting. client utilizes a proprietary shareholder services and performance measurement system (GPRS) that is continually being enhanced. This system is in the process of being upgraded to a new development platform. The individual will collaborate with the business community to document the existing GPRS system and create comprehensive business requirements documents for ongoing enhancements and the upgrade of the product. The person in this role will work with the software development group to convey, clarify, and improve the stated requirements and solutions. This individual will translate business needs into functional specifications to ensure that the business partners’ functional requirements are fulfilled, and that the enhancements as well as the newly upgraded GPRS system conform to the specifications. The Database Team is charged with managing the global database infrastructure for the firm having a strong focus with MS SQL Server based technologies.

Position Profile
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Database Manager will be in charge of both Database Support and Enterprise Data Architecture.

Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for the enterprise database landscape including: back-office data warehouses, trading systems, accounting systems, market data warehouses, research platforms and other both off-the-shelf and proprietary solutions

Manage the firm-wide coordination and collaboration of a critical portfolio of database projects, prioritize by value-add to the firm and see through to impeccable execution of each

Manage a global team of database administrators and architects including off-shore, on-shore and consultants

The Operations and Desktop team is responsible for monitoring critical operations tasks / data feeds and for providing all levels of support for our desktop and laptop community. Overview:

Reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure, the Operations & Desktop support manager provides global support and leadership for formulating, evaluating, and implementing desktop related technology solutions, policies, SLAs and initiatives that improve the quality and effectiveness of client’s user community and efficiency of its business operations


Primary Responsibilities:

· Management of L1 / L2 support services which include Service desk, desk side support, IT Operations teams and data feed management
· Work with Investment Systems, Client Systems and Research Systems application development teams and the Quality Assurance team to identify requirements to be translated into Service Level Agreements(SLA)
· Institute and manage teams in meeting business SLAs
