Client is a leading investment management firm located in the financial district of Boston.
Reporting to the Manager of Trading Systems, you will be responsible for the development, integration, and support of a suite of our Eagle Pace applications. The Developer will also be responsible for ensuring that business applications are aligned to strategic IT and operational vision. This individual will work closely with the business analysts to convey, clarify, and/or enhance the stated requirements. In addition, this individual will be responsible for working with the investment divisions and / or Quality Assurance to ensure plans for each of the enhancements are executed and that the final deliverables are accepted in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the business community to establish functional requirements for any trade lifecycle process enhancements, including new system development, new functionality, version upgrades, and reporting requirements
• Work as part of a team of in-house staff and outside consultants to implement the required changes
• Work extensively with business analysts and investment professionals to analyze business problems, assess how they impact development and design, and recommend IT solutions.
• Ensure that departmental development, testing, and documentation standards are adequately implemented on an on-going basis.
• Provide regular project status reports to business area and IT management.
Mandatory requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in technology discipline or equivalent experience
• 5 years experience in a systems analyst / developer role
• 3+ years experience in the financial services industry
Skills:
• 5+ years of IT related experience in the investment/securities industry. Specific experience in working with Eagle Pace is required.
• Led and/or participated in successful medium and large IT projects from inception to delivery.
• Working knowledge of PC/distributed applications. Hands on and extensive experience with many of the following technologies: .Net (VB or C#), MS SQL Server, MS Access/Excel. FIX, SWIFT, XML and messaging related experience a plus.
• Strong business/technical perspective and knowledge of the investment/securities industry.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of standard design methodologies and principles.
• Extremely strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to work directly with the business community
• Must be detail oriented with very strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little or no supervision
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals, and meet deadlines
• Must be willing to take initiative and employ good follow-through skills
