Client: One of the world's leading private, alternative asset management firms.
The Senior Database Administrator will be part of the Infrastructure Team in the Information Technology department. Under the guidance of the Infrastructure Manager you will operate and maintain global worldwide database infrastructure.
Based in Boston, this position will require some domestic and international travel. This is a full time position. Occasional night and weekend hours are required for scheduled system maintenance and upgrades.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all production SQL Servers.
Provides database server hardware recommendations, design and implementation.
Document, Implement and Enforce Database Security Methodology across Production
Analyzes and maintains collected database performance data to ensure high performance.
Maintain, upgrade, consolidate and optimize existing database server hardware.
Provides copies of production data to QA and Dev environments.
Ensures that implementation plans are complete and well executed.
Deploys, configures, and maintains the health of the database server infrastructure.
Implements Disaster Recovery Solutions
Monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting and resolution of issues or escalating to the appropriate technical resources to resolve issues.
Assists in the development, management, and enforcement of company's database server security policy.
Deploy patches for vendor database applications.
Deploy in house database development and reports to production.
Ensures that all SQL Server database designs adhere to industry best practices.
Acts as technical leader and resource to team members and company personnel.
Works with IT Security Personnel to develop and implement security policies affecting SQL Server databases.
Configures and maintains database server and object level security and permissions.
Develops, maintains, and executes documentation, policies, and procedures.
Complies with company's change management control process.
TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE:
• SQL Server 2000/2005, SQL, DTS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, OLTP, OLAP, SMO, .NET
• MCDBA/MCITP Certification a plus
• Experience with database server hardware design and implementation.
• Experience with DNS, DHCP, AD, LDAP
• Experience with Data Warehousing
• Experience with third party monitoring tools
• Experience with SAN technology
• Experience with DB Disaster Recovery and Log Shipping
• Financial industry experience, including familiarity with market vendor applications a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree in computer technology or related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server administration
A thorough understanding of MS SQL Server 2000/2005
Experience with defining and implementing hardware specs
MCDBA a plus but not required

Able to produce and maintain clear and usable documentation of hardware, software, and problem resolutions.
