Trade OMS - Systems Support Engineer

Permanent position at an investment firm in Boston.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Support Engineer to join our support staff and contribute in a variety of areas, including the monitoring, support, problem resolution and server configuration management for our research databases, vendor and custom built systems and in general all investment and trading applications that the group is responsible for. This is a full-time position.


Responsibilities:

-Ensure, coordinate and expedite successful completion of escalated support issues
-Support real time low-latency trading middleware environment.
-Support Trade Order Management systems.
-Identify, research and resolves technical problems pertinent to our applications and collaborate with the application development team or third-party vendors
-Build tools and utilities to automate data quality checks and system monitoring
-Acquire/build and maintains knowledge base for trading and investment applications
-Liaise with 3rd party product consultants as well as other groups in IT

Skills:

-College degree required.
-Extensive problem coordination and troubleshooting skills a must.
-Commitment to quality and customer service.
-Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems.
-Understanding of programming languages (Java, C#, Perl) and object oriented concepts.
-Understanding of relational databases, with emphasis on Microsoft SQL Server, data loading mechanisms and reporting.
-Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
-Experience with CRD or Longview Trade Order Management systems would be a plus.

Head of IT Infrastructure

This is a full time, permanent position at an investment firm in Boston.

The IT Infrastructure Team is responsible for the technology infrastructure and technical support globally. The team consists of approximately 30 technology professionals whose key functions include Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Database Management, Network, and Desktop Support.

Reporting to the Head of Information Technologies, the Head of IT Infrastructure provides global technology vision and leadership for formulating, evaluating, and implementing information technology solutions, policies and initiatives that improve the quality and effectiveness of the strategic goals and the efficiency of its business operations.



Primary Responsibilities:

· Management of Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Database Management, Network, and Desktop Support

· Acts as a liaison with the Investment Systems, Client Systems and Research Systems application development teams and the Production Control team to ensure full understanding of data flow, data integrity, and system security

· Assesses information technology control elements to mitigate IT risks regarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of business information

· Responsible for enterprise management of desktop systems, servers and data storage comprised primarily of Windows/Intel platform

· Responsible for the global network supporting all data, voice and video services including remote access and VoIP implementation

· Responsible for Data Center and Disaster Recovery Center operations

· Management of core firm-wide applications for messaging and data storage including Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server

· Planning and implementation of technical security including firewalls, anti-virus, spyware, spam, active directory and logical access

· Work closely with the Facilities group for physical construction, moves, and support of the facilities applications including building access authorization



Mandatory requirements:

· 10+ years experience managing technical organizations

· 10+ years experience managing telecommunications

· 10+ years experience in the financial services industry

· 5+ years experience with offshore vendors

· 5+ years experience with Citrix, VMWare
