Full time, permanent position South of Boston
The Database Administrator will have responsibility and technical ownership of multiple enterprise Microsoft SQL Server systems in the client's 24x7 global database environment. This resource will oversee the development and organization of the databases, assess and implement new technologies, and provide Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company. The DBA is challenged to work with architecture, application development and infrastructure to meet current and future business objectives. This person will train, mentor and develop technical support and applications staff to better utilize on-line processing databases environment. This resource will administer a variety of SQL Server database systems; develop and enforce database administration and user standards and procedures; assist the business in the development and creation of SQL, web-based databases and database systems; review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff; implement disaster recovery procedures and solutions; and implement security integrity controls.
Bachelors degree and 7+ years related professional IT experience. Must be proficient in all aspects of database administration; possess strong technical problem solving, programming and communication skills. Detail oriented and able to work well within a team environment. Must be self-directed and confident.
Experience with the following:
In depth MS SQL Server database administration and design
Managing multiple MS SQL 2000/2005/2008 RDBMS on large systems in clustered environments
Monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
Transactional SQL, and DTS stored procedures
Ability to support SharePoint environment
Managing the internal and external MS SQL database security
