Investment Systems Developer

Full time, permanent position in Boston

We are looking for an energetic individual with strong hands-on .Net programming and SQL database technical skills to join our Strategic Initiatives Group. This close knit team of twelve builds, manages and supports all technologies used across the firm. As a developer in this group, you will report directly to the head of development. You will design, build, enhance and support mission-critical systems to ensure customer satisfaction.


Summary of essential job functions
• Work with business analysts and end users to understand and document requirements.
• Make technical assessments; develop and document technical solutions; and explaining advantages, risks and alternatives.
• Design, code and verify technical solutions.
• Provide time-sensitive support for mission-critical systems.
• Support production systems to guarantee high availability and reliability.
• Contribute and adhere to best practices throughout the software development life cycle.
• Estimate the level of effort required for projects and tasks.
• Participate in daily scrum and iteration planning activities.
• Participate in regular design and code reviews to ensure that designs are solid and standards are followed.

Key Competencies

Required:
• 5+ years as a Software Developer developing multi-tiered applications using Microsoft technologies.
• Strong database expertise (3+ years) writing queries, stored procedures and table design.
• Strong design pattern and object oriented expertise (3+ years)
• Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner and to perform equally as well as part of a team.
• Drive, energy, enthusiasm, maturity and confidence.
• Passion for technology

Desired:
• Development experience using: C#, NET 3.5, WCF, WWF, T-SQL
• Development experience with Sybase or SQL Server.
• Exposure to fund accounting systems, trading systems, and/or analytics systems.
• Exposure to LatentZero, Portia, SalesLogix, Bloomberg, Point, or Intex
• SQL performance tuning and optimization
• Experience with SSRS and/or SharePoint
• Prior experience in financial services


Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field is a requirement.
