Position Location - Boston
DESCRIPTION:
This position will be working directly with one of the business units. The person will participate at various levels in all technology related initiatives from inception to implementation and support. Through in-depth knowledge of the business, this position will document business processes, develop needs analysis, functional / technical specifications and perform system / user acceptance testing around hardware and software implementations.
Position Qualifications
TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE:
• Experience with investment reporting systems related to fixed income required
• Experience with data warehouse and reporting data marts required
• Strong understanding of relational databases, reporting schemas, data transformations
• Experience with implementation of Reporting systems / portals for portfolio management and investment teams required
• Experience with BI tools, Cube / OLAP technology required
• Experience in MS SQL Reporting services required; MS Report builder expertise required
• Exposure to investment concepts / terminology and systems related to fixed income investments
• Exposure to Wall Street Office preferred
• Intermediate skill level in data modeling, normalization, and SQL queries.
• Experience in User Interface design in web and client-server environments.
• Familiarity with multiple architectures: n-tier, .NET, client-server, etc. and multi-system application integration
• Fundamental understanding of software development lifecycle
• Experience in project management or managing regular software release cycles a plus
• Experience with reporting status, milestones, deliverables regarding the project
• Experience with a large, functionally diverse, and informed user base that demands high quality applications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2 - 4 years experience in the financial applications
• Knowledge of fixed securities required
• Knowledge of leveraged loans, bonds, and credit derivatives preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to deliver technology projects on time and within budget
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Form strong working relationships with internal users - both business and technical - to facilitate reporting.
• Fulfill responsibilities related to production support as well as application development projects simultaneously.
• Create documentation in support of technology requests
• Gather, validate, document, and facilitate implementation of business requirements for technology initiatives (includes business/data requirements, data flows, data modeling, workflow context and design, and user interface designs)
• Responsible for system planning and testing
• Participate in user acceptance testing and support system training / documentation
• Responsible for project coordination and project reporting standards
• Maintains project status reports that includes tasks/issues/risks
• Maintains project calendar that includes high / mid / low level plans
• Responsible for overall status reporting to Technology Steering Committee and Program Manager
• Monitor and document project task list, progress and resource allocation for assigned projects
