Hedge Fund Desktop / Trade Support Engineer

Client: One of the world's 15 biggest hedge funds

Permanent, full time role at Boston location.

This role encompasses all technical and trading systems support.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The primary task for this individual will be to provide day-to-day support of the technology Infrastructure in our Boston office, consisting of HP desktop PCs and Servers using the Windows Operating System; Cisco routers, switches and fire walls and voice systems from British Telecom (turrets) and Northern Telecom (PABX). In order to support the current day-to-day service needs and expanding user base we are looking for a technician who has Trade Support and general financial system support knowledge. S/he will be tasked with supporting this infrastructure at company in compliance with the established company technology standards to keep pace with the challenging demands of company. Some additional responsibilities of this position include:



· Level 1, 2 & 3 desktop support for Trader, Analysts and non-Front Office staff in Boston

· Level 1 & 2 Market Data service support including working with Front Office Teams to ensure use of market data is efficient and document requests for trading tool enhancements

· Establish and maintain service level relationship with local Technology service providers

· Home site visits for user community as required

· Perform daily AM and PM system checks as per documented procedures and distribution of status reports

· 24x7 on-call support duty



This hire will have an extremely solid foundation in hardware troubleshooting/replacement and market data service support. The goal of this position is to support an optimally running environment in support of a 24x7 hedge fund. The following skills are not all essential requirements, but encompass an actual range of responsibilities relevant to our environment:



Desired

-Three years Technology Support experience in Trading environment
-Knowledge of market data applications, specifically Bloomberg
-Solid understanding of trading and the financial markets
-Excellent PC troubleshooting and break / fix skills


Optional

-Windows Domain support
-Data and voice network & system support
-Scripting/programming experience with VBA
-Work with Technology Team to implement and develop DMA products
-Work with Technology Team to assist with the development of trading and risk databases for trading analysis


Personal Requirements:

-Financial industry experience an absolute must.
-Excellent attention to detail and ability to remember, record, and relay both routine and mission critical information on a consistent basis.
-Ability to interact with users across all business units.
-Proven track record of being reliable and punctual
-Experience in writing business documents, such as functional specs and result summaries, as well as communicating project/issue status – both written and verbal
-Demonstrate ability to operate in a stressful environment
-Education: B.S. degree required in computer science, engineering, information systems or related discipline.
