This is a role in Development, not Release Engineering, therefore the candidate filling this role must have a programming background, plus a self starter.
Looking to standardize this across the department and automate as much of the build & deployment process as possible. Some groups building out Team Foundation Server to be a collaborative environment but need someone on this fulltime to standardize and bring the department to the next level. This person being the liaison between development and release engineering and will help coordinate project releases through the change control board.
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with building .NET applications using a standard source control tools such as TFS, CVS or Clearcase.
• Solid understanding of Software Configuration Management, experience with different branching strategies.
• Programming experience, C# preferred
• Well versed in MSBuild, VB Script, NAnt, Perl, or other Windows scripting and build workflow tools.
• The ability to automate the build and deployment process through the use of scripts/tools. Previous experience with continuous integration a plus.
• Knowledge of 3rd party products including: Team Foundation Server, MS Build, Install Shield, IIS, CMS, SharePoint, WebTrends, etc.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision, a self starter.
• Good communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Perform development builds for multiple .NET projects, investigate build issues and work with developers to resolve conflicts.
• Deploy builds to multiple environments, and streamline processes to improve efficiency.
• Manage and perform all branching, versioning, merging, and other source control strategies within the development department.
• Manage the transition between development and other environment including turnover document detailing application builds, configuration changes, database changes, infrastructure changes, etc.
• Work on establishing automated tools and testing to improve product quality.
• Define/create development environment and environment standards; perform infrastructure upgrades, system patches, service packs, and configuration changes.
• Work closely with Release Management, Quality Assurance, and Engineering departments to contribute to the overall success of the product delivery.
