SQL Server Developer

Contract or Perm position at an investment management firm in Boston

Position Overview:

We are looking for a SQL Server Developer to join a team of 4 developers and architects to create innovative solutions for our investment divisions. You will be working with data and research departments, implementing a wide variety of databases used for research, portfolio construction and trading. This is a contract position.


Responsibilities:

Work closely with research analysts and portfolio managers to comprehend the data needs, and data usage.
Propose and design database solutions.
Implement database systems based on the solutions proposed and work closely with users to test and integrate the system into the current production environment.
Support the systems developed.


Skills:

College degree required.
4+ years of experience developing application with the focus on data and data access.
Proven track record building large scale SQL Server databases.
Expert level T-SQL skills.
Experience with performance tuning, execution plans, indexed views.
Basic familiarity with .NET for CLR stored procedure and SSIS development.
Experience with SQL Server 2008 would be a plus.
Methodical and pragmatic.
Self-starter, able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
Must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize work and effectively manage multiple tasks.
Mathematics or other analytical background would be a plus.
Prior exposure to Financial Services would be a plus.
