Business Systems Analyst

Contract to hire Business Systems Analyst


Responsibilities include:

-Gaining a complete understanding of the problem presented
-Analyzing and developing a number of different solutions to the problem
-Identifying pros and cons to each solution and working with the team to come up with the plan of action
-Gathering and documenting business requirements
-Understanding clients' business above and beyond the immediate requirements
-Converting requirements into functional specifications
-Working with department members to determine timetable for user requests
-Using prior systems design experience to translate client business requirements into application Logical Designs that conform to the application architecture
-Developing an in-depth understanding of the core business functionality for specific sub-systems within our application and leveraging off existing functionality to satisfy new client requirements
-Conducting walkthroughs of all completed specifications with representatives from all interested areas (e.g., development, testing, client management) to ensure the design is complete and the development estimates are accurate
-Acting as the main liaison between the business users and the development staff to ensure proper implementation of requirements within the expected timetable
-Communicating material modifications of business requirements to business users
-Conducting interviews with business, technical, and problem experts to identify and communicate issues and gathering comprehensive information for use in problem identification and resolution
-Ensuring that proper documentation is completed and distributed in a timely manner to communicate status and resolution of issues
-Working with third-party suppliers to implement new system or modify existing tools
-Consulting directly with clients, system architect, client managers, development staff, and business analysts to complete logical designs
-Resolving open issues, clearly identifying and explaining base assumptions, and explaining the Logical Design in a manner understandable to business user and developer

The ideal candidate would also meet the following requirements:

Technical Acumen

-Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies
-Experience in business analysis and requirements definition for IT systems
-Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Visio
-Ability to learn new applications

Consulting Aptitude

-Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to probe and research issues in depth
-Ability to synthesize new business requirements and processes
-Strong organizational and analytical skills
-Understand the "big picture" view as it relates to the day-to-day activities and tasks
-Good team player and understands the goals of the department
-Proven experience in requirements gathering of all sizes of projects
-Experience with all components of a project lifecycle such as planning, analysis, design, construction and testing

-Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings
-Good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate with other departments
-Self-motivated; comfortable working in a team, as well as independently
-Able to think on your feet, multitask, and meet deadlines
-Adaptable, flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and frequently changing business environment
